HEAD LICE REMOVAL

I keep seeing stories about head lice and using those horrible chemicals to eradicate them. Don't put chemicals on your kids heads, it soaks into the scalp. I tried them once when my daughter was in Kindergarten, they do nothing but stink and are possibly harmful to little people. I had the fortune of having to get rid of these little nuisances 6 times in one year until I finally stepped up at the school and helped to stop a practice that helped spread them. When the kids got to school in the morning, they would pile their backpacks and coats in front of the classroom so they could go play until the bell rang. This was the prime time for 6 legged creepy s to climb from one to the next (lice cant jump). Having 3 boys, a quick shave of the head was all we needed to do, but a little girl needs her hair.

This is a sure fire way to rid yourself of those nasty little creatures. Its time consuming but it works.

What you need:
1 Bio silk (or some kind of oil) to make sure there are NO tangles
2 Lice comb - I used one that was thick metal heres a link so you can see a picture:
3 vinegar
4 some sort of light that you can shine straight on their head. (this REALLY helps to be able to see them)

Put vinegar in a bowl, get a stool or chair for your child, Have everything in the kitchen next to the sink.

First thing you do is pour bio silk or oil on your childs head and comb through with a regular hair comb making sure it goes all the way to the ends. Wash the comb in vinegar and rinse under HOT water.

Take your lice comb, part hair into sections (I used clippies to separate and hold it) start at the root of the first section and comb all the way to the end, rinse under HOT water (you will be able to see little white specks on the comb, thats the lice/nits), rinse the lice comb in vinegar, repeat.

WASH ALL BEDDING, JACKETS AND SWEATSHIRTS WITH HOODS, BACKPACKS, ETC.

PUT EVERYTHING THAT YOUR CHILDS HEAD COMES IN CONTACT WITH IN THE DRYER FOR AT LEAST 30 MINUTES IE. PILLOWS, STUFFED ANIMALS, ETC.
WASH ALL HAIR BRUSHES AND COMBS IN THE HOUSE.
IF YOUR CHILD EVER SLEEPS WITH YOU OR LAYS IN YOUR BED, WASH YOUR BEDDING AS WELL, PILLOWS THAT DECORATE YOUR SOFA, ETC.

First weekend in May

I got a call from my Aunt Linda last Wed informing me that my Grandmother had passed away so my cousin, Elaine, who lives about an hour from me, and I drove to Orange county to the memorial. These 3 days were the longest amount of time she and I had ever spent together and I enjoyed getting to know her better. I am going to make a point of seeing her more often, we live too close to not spend some time together.

I was so happy to see so many of my family members that I havent seen in a long time. Some more than 20 years. I found it ironic that we were so happy to see each other but havent taken or made the time to see each other in so many years and it took our matriarch passing to bring us together. I swore I wasnt going to go up and look at Gramma in her casket but as soon as I walked in, the first thing I did was set down my purse and go up to say goodbye. She looked marvelous. She lived a very long time, 94 years and was pretty much healthy through out her life. Her body didnt give in until she was 94 when she fell and broke her hip, had a hip replacement and I believe that was the beginning of the end. She ended up in wheelchair, Im guessing it was just too hard for her body to recover. Talking to my Aunts, they say she was very happy in her last weeks and that makes me feel good. I definitely have some guilt over not going to see her before she passed. The last time was about 3 years ago, although we have talked on the phone. We will see each other again soon.

Working woman

I finally found a part time job. Just enough to keep me busy, not too much to make me tired. I worked last week about 20 hours. This week will be about the same. Sunday I went in at 5am to help them redo the whole store, after 8 hours on my feet, standing on cement, it took me 2 days to recoup. Something not normal about that but sleep seems to work so I will just sleep I guess. Tom says the sleep Im getting isnt worth it because I thrash around and snore to high heaven.. Im going to have to get that pap mask and I dont want to.

Need to go back out to the Granite Bay project and fix a few things. Also get the sample ready for the gold bedroom. Drop that off Thurs. School on Tues and Thurs so Im plenty busy enough to keep my mind off Linds and her not living here with me, and off Riley, who I have been thinking about all day today. Sure miss that dog.

Talked to hubs, he went on a tour of the Petrona towers in Kuala Lumpur, didnt like it as much as last time.. but this time he sorta knows his way around the city.

Have to finish homework, I have a much better attitude than the last time I posted. I am working on an ornamentation, which I want to post here if I can figure out how.

bad bad bad

Ive been reading alot about people who have negative amoratizations, I think thats how it is spelled. They are the next ones to fall in this sub prime mess we are in. I found out I actually have a few family members who are facing this difficult problem. Just hunkering down, getting a job and paying my bills, right now, is my main concern. I love painting and want to paint but cant continue this dry spell. I need to make a living.

Im thinking of going back to selling via the website. I am in the process of moving my studio into another room in the house. I can organize it as I go instead of what I have now, everything just stuffed everywhere. Throwing things away, cleaning house so to speak and starting fresh. Im going to get a job but Im going to move the painting into another direction.

Since Linds isnt here every day anymore I am finding I need things to fill my time and I dont want to 'just' fill my time. I need things that are meaningful and have purpose. So starting school was a good start. Getting my website going as far as accepting payments online and finding some sort of job. Should keep me busy!

This economy sucks

I am having a terrible time getting jobs lately. I have talked to others who seem to be having the same problems. People keep hearing on the news how the economy is taking a turn for the worst and true to form, thats what happening. I have always been of the school, no matter what you think, there you are.. So if these damn news agencies would just stop with the negative nelly, OH MY GOD the worlds coming to an end, talk... things will get better faster.

In the meantime, I think Im going back to school. I enrolled at the local Junior College in a couple of mandatory classes and I start a Liberal Arts program in the fall. So, in the interest of having time to breath, Im looking for a job! If I have to work 40 hours a week, so be it, but I would rather find something closer to 30-35... ya, in a perfect world.

Ive had a few interesting interviews. One was for a gallery, the ladies I met with were so nice that when they called to give me the news that I DIDNT get the job, they felt so bad they gave me a 1 year membership to the gallery... sweet, not sure what I do with it but sweet.

It sounds arrogant but usually if I can get an interview, I can get the job. Its that gift of gab I have and my nonstop questions... but by the same token, my nonstop questions have gotten me booted as well... se la vie...

So, if you know anyone who needs a creative, outspoken, fun to be with, girl, who has no specific talents but learns very fast, shoot me a message... Im not proud...
